Torchbearer Spring 2019
The cover of the spring issue of Torchbearer celebrates Grant Rigney, UT’s eighth Rhodes Scholar. The feature story, “The Natural Classroom,” explores the many ways UT benefits from the Smoky Mountains National Park’s proximity to campus to provide experiential learning and research opportunities for students and faculty.

The Hill, Unleashed!
In January 2019, the web team announced a major upgrade to the UT web templates and theme. Included in the many WordPress updates was the ability to toggle to a full-width version of the templates. The McClung Museum and Sustainability websites were launched in 2Q 2019 and both demonstrate this new and impactful design option.

On April 2, 2019, hundreds of Volunteers came together during the fifth annual Hike the Hill in Heels event. During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, all Volunteers were asked to join the university in helping to change the statistics surrounding sexual assault on our campus and beyond.

Many college students celebrate graduation by traveling or having a grand adventure—something that allows them to see world from varying perspectives. Jessica Ossyra has been there, done that. Ossyra has already visited all 50 states and 30-plus countries thanks to her time as a circus performer.
