Megan Boehnke manages communications and messaging for the chancellor, which includes all written messages, remarks, speeches, op-eds, presentations, and videos. She has been at UT for nearly five years and has spent most of that time supporting the chancellor. Prior to joining the university, Boehnke spent 10 years as a newspaper reporter, including seven years at the Knoxville News Sentinel, where she covered several beats including UT and higher education. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky.

David Smith

As the Baker Center’s director of external affairs, David Smith leads the center’s communications, media relations, and digital strategy efforts. He works to promote the university’s faculty and students working in public policy and coordinates with the center’s program directors and the director of communications to promote the center’s events, programming, and research products. Smith contributes to event programming decisions, oversees event production, and supervises writers and the student communications team.
