As our students transition from high school to college, it is their strengths that make them unique and will guide their path while on Rocky Top. Empowering and maximizing individual strengths will transform the UT undergraduate experience. Learn more about positive psychology and undergraduate student success through a strengths-based mindset and how campus communicators can utilize language to promote a positive psychology perspective.

Vice Provost Amber Williams leads UT’s Division of Student Success and develops programming and initiatives that enhance students’ strengths in alignment with their goals and dreams. In her first year as vice provost, Williams has developed initiatives such as the New Vol Experience, the Vol First-Year Experience, Vol Success Teams, and the UT Success Academy. Students engaged in these programs report higher academic and social belongingness as well as higher comfort levels when using UT resources. She previously was the assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management at the University of Nebraska and had significant experiences influencing student success initiatives.
