Chancellor Donde Plowman

Leading by Example

This story was posted for Chancellor Donde Plowman’s first week and several weeks to follow, including the first week of classes. It is a profile of her leadership style as well as reflections on what it means to be a Volunteer. This was the last Volunteer Story to occupy top billing in the old homepage design. Once it came down, our new homepage design was launched.

Welcome to Campus

We launched a redesigned homepage on August 19 to coincide with the beginning of the fall semester. The Volunteer Story is no longer the only featured story at the top of the page—instead, there are four stories to choose from, one of which has greater visual priority. This story was the larger of the four.

UT Celebrates 225 Years of Lighting the Way

The University of Tennessee is celebrating its storied past and charting its future. What began as Blount College in 1794 is now Tennessee’s flagship university and premier public research institution. Today UT educates more students, conducts more groundbreaking research, and receives more support from stakeholders than at any other time in its history. All who find a path to their future at UT carry with them the legacy of showing up to answer a call and a tradition of excellence in their endeavors. Volunteers have been working together to light the way for others through service and discovery for 225 years. The light of this university is seen in every corner of Tennessee and throughout the world—a beacon shining bright. Video narrated by UT alumnus and champion Peyton Manning.
