Media + Internal Relations

Create a buzz — on campus or around the world.

UT’s Media & Internal Relations team can make “media hype” work for you. Whether you want to plan and publicize an event on campus or announce a research finding to the world, we have the resources to make it happen.

We have established relationships with reporters and editors in newsrooms down the street and around the globe. We consistently promote the university’s successes, as well as our impressive slate of faculty.

The Media & Internal Relations team also is with you in times of crisis—whether there’s an emergency that disrupts campus operations or a more complicated issue. We can handle those calls from reporters and act quickly to best communicate the facts so no one gets “stung.”

We track and highlight coverage on our “In the News” webpage to inform our community and the world about UT happenings.

We also distribute other news “to the hive”—here on campus. Our staff brings you “Tennessee Today,” a news page for the UT community, weekly in The Daily Beacon and via an electronic newsletter. We provide employees with relevant news about university happenings, fellow employees’ research and accomplishments, campus events of note, and key human resources and benefits updates.

Because we understand that keeping UT employees informed about the latest “buzz” is of absolute importance, Media & Internal Relations currently is refining our approach to internal communications. Throughout the 2007–08 academic year, you will be seeing new approaches to sharing internal news that will better connect you to the university and your colleagues within it.

Keep us informed about your latest news. We’re here to help you decide which media to target, how to hook them, and how your story sets the university apart.

There is no charge for Media & Internal Relations services to any UT faculty, staff, student, or department. Our capabilities and services include:

+ Media advisories and news releases
+ Local, state, national, and international media relations
+ On-campus internal communications
+ Campus event planning
